The Coaching Game is much more than just a game.
We have decided to call it "a game" because when we
play, we are bold enough to say things we wouldn't
usually dare. Nevertheless, the framework of a game is
protective by nature, and allows everyone to choose to
what extent they wish to become exposed and/or involved.

INSTRUCTIONS

The game toolkit includes:
-   65 coaching cards. Each one constitutes a topic
presented by a photo and a title.
-   A book incorporating several points of view:
pictures, perceptions, thoughts, questions and stories.
-   A process layout chart comprising four processes.
-   A notepad including coaching tickets.

1. Pick out a topic from your daily life which occupies
you mind, for better or for worse, and which you
would like to examine in depth. For instance,
a dilemma or a confrontation with your spouse,
your career, family, friends, sexuality, self fulfillment,
etc. Write down your topic in the designated field on
your coaching ticket (coaching tickets will be
    explained further down).

2. Spread out your process chart and select the process
most relevant to the chosen topic.

3. Shuffle the coaching card deck patiently. While
shuffling try to find out what bothers you most about
the topic you have chosen. Spread out the cards face
down and intuitively select several cards according to
the chosen process, placing them face down on the
process chart (you may also choose the open cards,
as you will find out later on).

4. Turn the cards face up. Study each one carefully,
focusing on your thoughts, feelings, associations,
and objections, and try to understand the connection
between the card, your life and your chosen topic.
Now observe the place which the card occupies in your
process chart, and ask yourself: What questions does
it raise? What are the answers that come up?
What do I or what don't I understand? Does it make
me confront it? Does it make me feel better?
Try holding an internal dialogue (or discuss your
    queries with a partner).

5. Open the book on the page relevant to each card
(the page number is written on the right side of
the card). For each topic you will find an additional
photo, a story, some quotes, thoughts, and questions.
The text may be read through all at once, or just one
sentence or you may perhaps stop to dwell upon a story,
a quote, a question, or a sentence for more than an hour.
    Everything's possible.

THE COACHING TICKETS

Its goal is to let our life insights and wishes become
something real. This is a chance to make a real change
and breakthrough in our lives. Writing is a tool well worth
trying to experience; it makes all those passing thoughts
turn into something tangible:

• Define the topic you have selected from your daily life
clearly and accurately. Write it in the appropriate field.
Mark down the kind of process and the date as well.
Fold the coaching ticket in two and place it on the process
   chart in its designated spot.

• After opening the process cards, mark on the coaching
ticket the cards which have come up when opening them.

• On the reverse side of the coaching ticket, in the space
designated for insights, mark the most significant thing in
the process – a sudden realization, a quote from the book,
a question raised, a passing thought.

• And now, if you wish to make a real change and are willing
to act rather than just look on, make a special
commitment to take action. On the ticket, mark the actions
you choose to take concerning the selected topic.
Don't make any concessions to yourself! Do everything
you can to achieve your goal.

THE COACHING CARDS

There are two options to select your coaching cards:

1. Selecting cards from an upside down deck whose
cards are concealed : The choice of concealed cards
confronts us with some of our least familiar and least
conscious places, and enables us to open up to additional
view points, which do not exist in our normal visual
range. Playing with concealed cards is recommended in
situations where the players are willing to take risks and
open up to any course their thoughts may take them.

2. Selecting cards from an open deck, which means
exposed cards: The choice of exposed cards is actually
a conscious choice of the content of the card we wish to

deal with; there's a good chance we will choose only those

safe "unthreatening" cards, thus managing to avoid a
deeper confrontation. Playing with exposed cards is
recommended in situations in which the time factor does
not play a restricting role, since any undisguised choice is
time consuming. The undisguised choice is excellent in
situations which may raise objections in some of us and
when we have difficulty going along with the process.
This is usually the case with people who are typically
logical thinkers, or who feel the need to be in control.

Both card selecting options create an extremely fascinating
dynamics, and achieve the same goal – a wide and thorough
examination of some of our life topics.

SOME IMPORTANT POINTS TO CONSIDER

• We never fail to feel overwhelmed when realizing how
"this thing" works, and how the coaching cards manage to
turn each romantic, social, professional or business
meeting into an exciting, intimate and significant human
experience. The coaching cards create communication and
frankness between players. In short, the cards deal out a
life experience! So, when you share with others, try to let

yourselves go all the way and just let yourselves be.
Sharing creates intimacy, which makes each encounter
   deeper and more genuine.

• When playing with other people we would do well to take
advantage of the chance to listen to different points of
view on topics which occupy our minds. By the same
token, make room for others and try to truly understand
them. Listen, take an interest, and ask questions.

.• Notwithstanding the instructions, it is not strictly necessary

to stick to them. You can play exactly as you like. Use
your imagination and creativity, because everyone has
their own way of playing: you may choose to only look at
the cards, you could just turn the pages of the book or
you might want to read it thoroughly or open cards
following the processes suggested on the attached chart.
    Possibilities are endless.

TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

• Let the encounter with the game become a ritual which
indicates taking leave of your regular daily routine,
and turn it into a time of relaxation and insight, make
yourself pause for a while and turn within. Create the
peace you require and shut out all potential disturbances
to avoid anything that might distract you.

• You may wish to introduce the coaching game to someone
who is unfamiliar with it in a simple and memorable way:
place the open coaching toolkit on the table and let them
look at the cards and the process chart, leafing through
the pages. Or you may suggest that they select some card
which has caught their eye and read out the relevant page
   from the book.

• Just like points of view, there are infinite possibilities of
using the coaching cards. The more we delve into the
game and the better we get to know the cards, the more
we can develop and choose the best fitting and suitable
way for each of us to work with the coaching cards.

We continuously make up and develop new ways to utilize
the coaching game as a professional tool. It can be used in
group processes, one to one or as a social game, both
entertaining and enriching.
